A few months ago we featured a challenge, offering the chance for three young engineers to work alongside Adrian Newey at the Red Bull Racing F1 team.

A video has been released showing the process by which the 12 finalists were whittled down to three winners during several days of tests at Red Bull HQ in Milton Keynes and at the UK technical centre of its title partner Infiniti.

The 12 were competing to win a 12-month engineering role with the F1 team; including accommodation in the UK, company car and a full salary. Out of 1,500 international engineering students from over 100 universities, the final 12 included nine men and three women.

The winners were William Priest, 23 from Chesham, Buckinghamshire, UK, Eric LaRoche, 25 from Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA, and Jason Zide, 21 from Laguna Beach, California, USA.

In one task they even got a chance to see how a race engineer works with a driver in the team’s F1 driving simulator – with World Champion Sebastian Vettel.

Sorry that something went wrong, repeat again!

Lucky chaps and chappettes. A great experience for their future

“As soon as they come through the door, you start to see who are the candidates”… because you have eyes!!

James can I ask off topic, I presume that Honda are working flat out on their engine through this enforced break since they are not officially in F1 yet?

Yes. Of course!

Couldn’t help but notice one of the winners was from “HAMILTON square, New Jersey, USA.”

Obviously in the New World Lewis has made quite an impression!
