We’ve done some great competitions this year, bringing JA on F1 readers closer to the sport, but here’s something different: Fancy jogging alongside Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner, then visiting the top secret RBR factory in Milton Keynes – and raising some money for charity in the process?

Wings for Life have offered one JA on F1 reader a place on the team they are entering in conjunction with Red Bull Racing in next year’s Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 11th March 2012.

The winner will be able to run alongside RBR team members with Christian Horner confirmed and Adrian Newey believed to be in training…

The event takes place on the track at Silverstone. What’s more, all runners in the Wings for Life team will be given a complementary gym session with Red Bull Racing’s Head Fitness Trainer and an exclusive tour of the Red Bull Racing Factory in Milton Keynes on completion of the challenge.

To be in with a chance of winning a place in the team please email office@wingsforlife.co.uk (mentioning “JA on F1 competition”) with the answer to the follow question before Sunday December 11:

In which race during the 2011 season did Sebastian Vettel have to retire?
A. Valencia
B. Abu Dhabi
C. Melbourne

The minimum fundraising total for all runners is £320 and the Wings for Life team can support you with plenty of tips on how to hit this target.

Wings for Life is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. The foundation was established in Europe in 2004, and became a registered charity in the UK at the end of 2010.

Wings for Life distribute grants to cutting edge medical research projects and clinical trials throughout the world, and also facilitate the development of preventive methods. The charity’s founders cover all administrative costs which means 100% of the money you raise will go into the research.

Terms & Conditions:
• By entering the competition, entrants accept the Terms and Conditions listed here
• The closing date is at midnight on Sunday, 11th December
• The winner will be selected at random and will be contacted by 12pm on Monday 12th December
• Only one email entry will be considered per person
• The winner reserves the right to pull out of this opportunity until they sign a formal fundraising agreement. In this case another winner will be selected at random.

Date of these terms: November 24th 2011

Fantastic idea! I've always wanted to run on Silverstone track and better yet, for a great cause.

2

On the one hand a warm gesture like this, and then on the other splitting off from team community for the $.

3

Wonderful idea and with todays GFP even more so. James would you be able to get in touch regarding fund raising for a childrens charity in Melborne please. Your support would be a tremendous boost.

4

Is this competition available to people overseas? does it include flights?

5

No it does not include flights, but anyone can enter as long as they can get themselves there

6

What a fantastic opportunity! Thanks James. I'll be sure to enter this one. Just curious, what is the distance of half a marathon?

When I saw the picture above the article, I initially thought it was news on an F1 team appointing a female test driver! (title does not appear on my phone for some reason).

7

13.1 miles.

I'll enter this, a great opportunity. I did my first race last year, Leeds 10k in 52m55s.

8

3.581 laps of the curren Silverstone F1 circuit...

9

13.1 miles. Flat too.

10

SP,

A half marathon is about 13.2 miles.

11

Get fit, Earn additional walk

12

Presumably another criteria for entry is sufficient fitness to make it around the track (with or without a car...)... Rules out a few F1 Couch Potatoes..

Darn, WHAT a shame I'm so far away over in USA so won't be able to enter... 😉

13

I've just entered!

james, thank you so much for giving us fans the chance of doing things like this !!!

14

it certainly seems a worthwhile cause

A similar event at Spa I would definitely support, now that would be a circuit I'd love to run on. But best of luck to the organisers,

15

Have you ever stood at Eau Rouge? Its like walking up a sky slope 🙂 two times round that would do you in...

16

Cool. I'm already entered for the run but a great prize at great venue.

17

Tour of the Red Bull factory, eh? Is this open to McLaren and Ferrari personnel? 😀

18

Nah Stuie

Ferrari already have Webber's wing ha ha

Merry Xmas to all from Oz

19

Watch out for a Yorkshire accent, tall brown haired bloke called Bob Smebley 🙂

20

"Red Bull Racing’s Head Fitness Trainer" - Is that the head of fitness training or the trainer of head fitness? 🙂

21

I actually think I might enter this.

I was contacted by someone at Edge events recently about a tour at Redbulls factory. the princely sum of 295 pounds for a half day event..

Of course I'd rather raise the money for the charity 🙂

22

Good idea, loads of people have, I'm told

"in next year’s Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 11th March 2011"

Guess you mean 2012!
