Jenson Button collected a trophy yesterday at the BBC’s Sport Personality of the Year award, but not the one he was expecting. He was the favourite going into the event, but like Lewis Hamilton last year, the F1 world champion found himself demoted to second place, in this case by the Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs.
