A unique collection of sought-after Formula 1 memorabilia and experiences, including Ayrton Senna’s racing gloves from his 1991 championship-winning year and Jenson Button’s race seat from this year’s Australian GP, are to be auctioned off in the New Year to raise money for the Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust. Sir Jackie Stewart has warned Sebastian Vettel against swapping the stronghold of support he has built up at Red Bull for a move to Ferrari to go up against Fernando Alonso. When the Renault team launched their new F1 car earlier this week, one of the sponsors on the car, alongside Lotus, was Genii Business exchange. Genii Capital is the company which owns 100% of the Renault team and was set up by tech investor Gerard Lopez. Today it’s been announced that Sir Jackie Stewart has become a partner of Genii Business Exchange and will represent them in building new links with manufacturers and automotive companies. On Wednesday this week the Grand Prix Mechanics Trust held a reunion at the Williams F1 team conference centre, attended by close to 200 current and former mechanics. Also there to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of the pit lane were former drivers Sir Jackie Stewart, Damon Hill, Martin Brundle and John Watson.
