Formula 1 fans have a chance to put the questions to leading figures from the sport at the latest FOTA Fans’ Forum in Barcelona. It’s the first of a number of events in 2013 around the world. The fourth FOTA Fans Forum took place today at the HQ of Pirelli in Milan. It was the first FFF to be conducted in a language other than English. An audience of 200 Italian fans interacted with a panel comprising Ferrari boss Stafano Domenicali, drivers Nico Rosberg and Jarno Trulli, Sauber engineer Gianpaolo Dallara, Toro Rosso aerodynamicist Niccolo Petrucci. Three of F1′s leading engineers, McLaren’s Paddy Lowe, Renault’s James Allison and Red Bull’s Paul Monaghan met face to face with 300 F1 fans at the Fans Forum UK hosted at McLaren technology centre. The fans made it clear that to them F1 should remain the pinnacle of technology despite cost restrictions and asked the experts what changes they all were making to their exhaust blown diffusers for Silverstone to fit in with the new interpretation of the rules. McLaren’s Martin Whitmarsh, Mercedes’ Ross Brawn, Virgin Racing’s Graeme Lowdon and Force India’s Robert Fearnley met face to face with 300 F1 fans at the FOTA Fans’ Forum, UK at McLaren Technology Centre to discuss topics raised by the fans and hear their points of view. Here is a video with Part 2 of the FOTA Fans Forum in Montreal, featuring F1 drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Nico Hulkenberg as well as Team Lotus chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne discussing the stewards’ decisions on overtakes, collisions and “racing incidents” this year and also explaining to fans why F1 changes technical rules mid season, such as the blown diffuser, part of which looks set to be banned from Silverstone onwards.

Formula 1 fans are to get the chance to meet face to face with leading figures from the sport, team principals, engineers and drivers at a groundbreaking event in London. The FOTA Fans Forum, powered by Santander is a unique opportunity for the fans and the sport to come together and exchange ideas. The idea came from the comments section on this site.
