On Thursday night the FOTA Fans Forum took place in Montreal, offering fans from Canada and the USA a chance to meet face to face with the competitors in the sport they love and to ask questions and put their points of view across. Many of the fans who attended the FOTA Fans Forum, powered by Santander this week were interested to ask the panel of key team members whether they felt that current F1 places enough emphasis on driver skill, whether the huge run off areas on the circuits make it too easy for drivers to get away with mistakes. Formula 1 is set to change dramatically in three years time with a new engine formula up or grabs and this formed the basis of one of the discussions at the recent FOTA Fans’ Forum, powered by Santander. Talks are ongoing between the teams and the FIA about what kind of engines the sport will adopt, but it seems likely that it will be low capacity turbocharged engines. Ferrari have clarified that when they speak about a third car, they are not talking about a car which would be run by the Scuderia, but one which they would make available to a new team, such as ART GP, should they win the 13th franchise for 2011. Today 150 Formula 1 fans had their questions answered on subjects ranging from the Overtaking question to the Fan Experience at races when they met face to face with leading figures from the sport at the FOTA Fans Forum, powered by Santander, in London. The idea for the event, organised by Jamesallenonf1, came from the contents section on this website which has become a conduit for interactivity between the fans and the sport. The FOTA Fans Forum, powered by Santander is a unique opportunity for the fans and the sport to come together and exchange ideas. The idea came from the comments section on this site.
