Today February 28th, has been a very busy one in F1, with not only the testing going on in Bahrain, but also deadlines for new teams to enter the sport in 2015 and for engines to be homologated as well as a meeting of the F1 Strategy Group. McLaren has described 2014 as a “transitional year” and there is certainly a lot of change going on; with the management coup, which has seen Ron Dennis ousting Martin Whitmarsh as CEO and the departure of the F1 team’s title sponsor Vodafone after seven years. It appears that there will be no new title sponsor announcement as part of Friday’s online car launch. Veteran F1 engineer Mike Gascoyne has said that the FIA needs to impose a budget cap on F1 “for the good of the sport”.
