Sebastian Vettel mastered the tricky conditions at Interlagos to take a dominant pole position in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Fernando Alonso. It is the 45th pole of his career, the ninth of 2013 and puts himself in the perfect position to equal Michael Schumacher’s thirteen Grand Prix victories in one season. The first day of practice for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix saw some close lap times between the two leading teams, Red Bull and McLaren, promising a tense battle for the final race of the season. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the day, just over a tenth clear of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, but the long runs were interesting.
