We are running the most exciting competition we’ve ever had on JA on F1 and after a week in which we’ve seen a staggering 900+ messages left on the post announcing the competition – featuring both entries and votes – we can reveal the Top 10 Leaderboard.

Fans have to describe in 150 words max their best every road trip in the comments section of the competition post and then use Facebook, Twitter, blogs and any other means to get friends to vote for them as a “reply” under their entry.

Entry closes on Monday 13th at 9am UK time. You can view the competition, enter or vote for your favourite at Belgian Grand Prix Ultimate F1 Road Trip

Thanks to Shell, the title sponsor of the event, we have four pairs of VIP Grandstand tickets to the Belgian Grand Prix, Sunday 2nd September, at the world famous Spa Francorchamps circuit.

And the prize also includes “the Ultimate F1 road trip” from London to Belgium, departing the Friday before the race. You and a friend can join six like minded fans on the F1 trip of a lifetime.

* Two nights at a luxury hotel as well as an evening meal which I will attend, where we can discuss predictions for the weekend ahead.

* Access to the exclusive Shell Eau Rouge hospitality suite with a stunning view of the iconic Eau Rouge corner

• A chance to test out your own F1 driving skills on the state-of-the-art driving simulator known as the Shell Professional Simulator Experience developed in collaboration with Ferrari.

And there could be an amazing “bonus experience” in the pipeline, which I hope to be able to announce in the near future….

Late night drive to Knockhill in Scotland to the British Superbikes, with a few beers and a brilliant sight of the Northern Lights in the sky on a warm clear night. We then got lost on the way there and ended up heading down south for a few miles, we then camped in a field until morning we then managed to get directions by that time all the alcohol was finished but the drive through the country was breath taking so many great views we didn’t care about the alcohol because the weekend was brilliant.

Hi James, can I ask you a question that is completely off topic. Why is motorsport not an Olympic sport?

    James Allen Reply:

Powerboating was once, long time ago, but then Olympic committee decided that anything with engines wasn’t in the Olympic ideals, so they dropped it

Yeah, think about the Politics that surround F1 already. Think how much worse that would get if it was in the Olympics!

Hi James, this is an important question.

I have commented on this page and noticed that there is another page with over 900 comments. Does this leaderboard page count towards the competition if you submit a story of a road trip?

No, put it on the original post

Holidays are negotiable for prizes like this!… even ones in Corsica!

I’m planning to take my 2 year old daughter to Monza one week later, she loves the red cars! this would be the perfect prize for her.

James – Do people’s votes count if they don’t do as they’re told and reply to a reply instead of replying to the main post?

If so I have some heads to knock!

Just makes it much harder to spot our end

    Jon Wilde Reply:

Surely anyone can claim those votes?

    AndyFov Reply:

    FAO Mrs Wilde…

Surely you’d rather be on a sun-soaked beach somewhere than in the middle of the Ardennes in the midst of all that noise and petrol fumes?

Vote AndyFov. You know it makes sense. ;)

    Jon Wilde Reply:

    Agreed.

    Thanks James :)

No chance of a Monza comp?!?

James, probably a bit premature and overly optimistic, but has there been a change in plans as far as the transport from UK to Belgium is concerned? I believe the original post was mentioning something about a flight whereas now it seems that this transport will happen by train?

Off Topic, but I was thinking about the RRA. With the huge change in regulations coming in 2014, would the teams and the FIA consider running this year’s cars for a 2013? the Development process for 2013 cars is probably still in relative infancy, it would save the teams millions and the current cars, tires, and regulations have created fantastic racing this year.

The bottom 3 teams could be offered a customer car for a year, to allow them to focus all development efforts on 2014 and show competitive progress for sponsors (HRT – Williams, Marussia – Mclaren, Caterham – Red Bull)

    Why not?

The pinnacle of motorsport, could save money for a year! and most people are used to the stepped noses now.
