Yes of course it was nonsense James, quite agree with you, your commentary with Martin more than proved there was a good working relationship there in the box and if there was a TV prize for best sports commentary of 2008 then, for me, you both should have won it for Brazil that year (your words as Hamilton climbs the hill after passing Glock still gives me goose bumps!). Of course, you received that autosport award from Murray for moment of the year which i was pleased to see. Though I have to say it sounded a bit tense at the Nurburgring in 2005 when you both could not agree on whether Raikkonen should have pitted for a new tyre to replace the 50 pence piece he was leading the race with!

Completely agree!
Poor Martin and David tried their best to build it up with “This chicane is a good overtaking oppurtunity” and “Turn 1 in the race will be interesting” A pity none of these happened!

Maurice Hamilton was in the back of MB’s car, and he’s written about it in Motor Sport magazine. Haven’t heard who the other one was.

It’s such a pity nobody can drive the current F1 cars due to the testing ban, I’d have loved to hear what Martin and DC made of the different feel of KERS, the slick tyres etc.

Conversely, the chemistry between Martin and Jonathan Legard is toe curlingly awful.

And it’s nothing to to do with poor Martin.

I remember when ITV did a feature when MB got to drive the Ferrari, brilliant insight into a modern F1 car. I hope the BBC do more of these next year.

Thank you for this James, decent F1 coverage is the main thing I miss since moving away from the UK, back when F1 was in ITV…
