Yes we know for certain that he had 5 laps more at the first stops, the FIA weigh-in confirmed it, they said so on their website in the report on the team orders investigation. I agree though, that it is unlikely that Hamilton could have closed down a 10.8 second lead by running 9 laps longer, particularly when at the first stops he actually lost ground to Alonso, although he did have to lap one car. But on lap 28, when they both had clear air, Hamilton was only just over a tenth faster, when he needed to find over a second. Alonso had him beaten, bu not "well" beaten. I don't think there was much to choose between them in terms of ultimate pace, but Alonso was able to deliver his pace more consistently through the race. But this definitely wasn't the race where Alonso really stamped his authority over Hamilton. For me, that race was Monza, where he absolutely destroyed him in just about every aspect with no disavantage to Hamilton by being brough in early. He had a pretty big gap at Malaysia too, but I'll give Hamilton the benifit of the doubt on that one because he was only in his 2nd race and he had to spend much of the race holding off Ferraris, which does slow you down. But then, there were weekends where Hamilton had a big pace advantage over Alonso, like Bahrain, Turkey, Fuji and Brazil. I think the fact that they ended the season with the same points total was fair.

That’s not entirely fair, the fact that Alonso set the fastest lap is completely irrelevant since Hamilton was brought in very early for both his stops, he never had the chance to run on low tanks with the favourable tyres, which is when fastest laps are set.
