He was trying to salvage at least something for his team! Remember,if your brain is at the right spot, mid season testing was banned this year unlike 2007 . And Renault stopped developing R29 long back with Ferrari. What he has said is that he believes he gets the most possible out of a car. I've heard no-one disagree with that.
